Bruce’s Mill Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival

Overview

As winter winds down and a hint of spring is in the air, it is a sure sign of maple syrup harvesting time in the forest. Many families have made it a tradition, at this time of year, to visit Bruce’s Mill Conservation area to learn about how maple syrup is extracted and processed. Demonstrations reveal the methods used by the early European settlers and then move to the operations of a modern sugar shack. There are family fun activities included along with the maple syrup demonstrations, as well as the use of park facilities, such as the hiking trails (Treetop Trekking not included). All the activities are ongoing throughout the day during festival hours. There is no time limit while visiting so you can repeat the activities if you wish. Meals featuring pancakes, with maple syrup of course, can be purchased at an additional cost and maple syrup products like syrup, fudge, candy, and sugar can also be bought to take home. Dogs are allowed in the park but must be kept on a leash and are not permitted in the visitor centre.
